At Isle Drive Driving School, we understand your excitement to learn to drive as well as your apprehension in taking your ICBC Road Test, but that’s what we are here for. Having a certified driving instructor will help build your confidence, broaden your road sense, improve your defensive driving skills, and teach you to become a safer driver. So that when you finally do feel you are ready to take your ICBC Road Test, you have all the driving skills and confidence necessary to pass.
Students of the Isle Drive Driving School will be taught on Toyota Prius compact vehicles. Our cars are serviced regularly and are up to date with the latest standards features. We offer our students the use of these vehicles for their final ICBC Road Tests (see package options) to ensure familiarity and added confidence.
Joe Hayward is our head instructor, and is an ICBC accredited driver instructor, and holds an ICBC Class 5 and Class 7 Driver Training Instructor Licence. He is friendly, patient, and very experienced. No matter your skill level, we can help get you on the road. We are fair with our prices, flexible with our hours and above all, the safety of our students is our #1 priority.
To obtain a license in British Columbia, you must be at least 16 years old.
If you are under 19 years old, a parent or guardian must sign the application.
All new drivers must pass through two licence stages before they get a full driver's licence.
Every car you drive in B.C. must have basic Autoplan insurance.

Isle Drive Driving School offers 90 minute in-car defensive driving lessons to help with specific techniques, enhanced defensive driving skills, or prepariness for upcoming ICBC Road Tests. All lessons are customized to each student’s specific requirements, allowing our instructors to focus on the relivent areas of city and highway driving the student needs to improve upon.

Rules Of The Road
Safety Preparation:
- Only the Driving Instructor and one student will be present inside the car. There will be no parent /guardian allowed to ride along during this time.
- Masks must be worn by the Instructor and Student at all times.
- Students to supply their own mask
- The Instructor and Student must hand wash with sanitizer at beginning of the lesson and at any time during the lesson whenever necessary.
- All control surfaces, door panels, armrests, handles, and interiors will be disinfected between lessons.
- No sharing of devices, paperwork, or any other items during the lesson.
- We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding any signs or symptoms of illness. If the health of the Instructor and/or Student is in any way in question, the lesson will not proceed.
- Pre-lesson questionnaire responses are recorded and filed by the Instructor, prior to each lesson.
- The student is to supply their own pen and notebook to limit shared items.

Since two-meter social distancing is not possible in a driving school car, we have developed strict safety protocols for the delivery of lessons. Please read the important information below before scheduling your lessons.

No Mask – No Lesson!
The safety of our students is our #1 priority.

Pre-Lesson COVID -19 Questionnaire:
- Are you feeling well with no symptoms of illness (COVID or otherwise)?
- Do you have a fever?
- Have you been in contact with anyone who may have contracted COVID-19?
- Have you traveled outside Canada in the last 14 days?
- Do you have a mask to wear during your lesson?
- Do you understand that participating in a driving lesson will put you inside of the two-metre social distancing recommendation?
- Are you aware that you may choose to postpone your driving lesson if you have any concerns about participating today?
- The Instructor will ask the student if they agree with the following statement and record their response:
“I have answered the questions truthfully and to the best of my knowledge, there is no reason why I should not participate in a driving lesson today. I understand I am able to reschedule this lesson if I choose to do so.”
The questionnaire will be held on file as a record of the student’s participation in the lesson.
